Speed and Explosion FlexBand Training for High School Athletes


If you’re an athlete participating in or planning to participate in high school sports, like football, basketball, baseball, soccer or track, you’re probably in pretty good physical condition, having already invested some time to polish your skills and increase your overall athleticism.

But, if you’re really serious about your sports performance, you’ll want to consider adding FlexBand training as part of your goal to improve speed and explosiveness.

Why FlexBand Training?

The biggest factors in improving sports performance, particularly speed and explosiveness, are muscle strength, flexibility and stride length.

Most high school athletes already have a weight-training routine, but using weights alone limits the muscle groups that one can safely work out to improve strength and flexibility. Adding regular FlexBand training in your routine attacks the muscle groups in a different way, at different angles and through constant resistance.

In addition to improving strength, stride length, and flexibility, which increase speed and explosiveness, FlexBand training also helps with core training to improve balance and stability. The overall effect is a stronger, faster, more flexible athlete who also is less likely to suffer minor muscle pulls and strains that can really impact one’s season.

It’s Not Just Stretching

Although you may already use FlexBands to stretch before and after your sport, that’s not what we’re talking about here. Our program is an intense workout using FlexBands to improve your speed and explosiveness. We’re going to make you sweat! The bands we use are much thicker and offer much greater resistance than what you would use in your stretching routines. In other words, you can’t get this type of training at your high school. Check out our videos that show parts of our workout.

The training takes place in our facility in Hudson in a group environment, so you’re training with other top athletes from our area. We have guys here from Streetsboro, Walsh, Kent, Stow, Tallmadge, Firestone and Cuyahoga Falls in various sports, including football, basketball, track and baseball.

What’s especially nice about this set-up is that it makes our classes very affordable for you and your parents.

Does it Work?

Before you start your FlexBand Training, we’re going to give you an assessment. Then, later on, we’re going to measure your progress. Here are some examples of the results we’ve achieved:

• Nick C. gained 3″ in his vertical in 3 months
• Kyle S. went from a 4.8 40-yard dash to a 4.67 in 6 months
• Carrington H. added 8″ to his vertical in 18 months

We use the same tests used in football combines to measure the progress of our students.

Our Credentials

Dr. Mike Shimmel has operated a successful chiropractic office in Stow for the last 24 years. Since 1995, he’s offered FlexBand training in his chiropractic practice and has worked with high school, college and professional athletes in using FlexBand training to improve recovery time from injuries.

Dr. Shimmel is the original FlexBand trainer in our area. He was the first distributer of Jump Stretch’s FlexBands in Northeast Ohio and to this day is the largest distributor of the product. Other trainers have come to Dr. Shimmel to learn how to use FlexBands for their own businesses.
